H. Nadine Chafee, 89, of Post Road, Perryville, passed away peacefully Sunday April 8th, 2012. She was the wife of the late Harold M. “Skip” Chafee. Born in Richmond, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Edith (Darelius) Dawley. Mrs. Chafee had once worked as a 4-H Club Agent and a home economist with URI Cooperative Extension Service. She was a long-time member of Perryville Bible Church where she faithfully served on the Missions Board and taught Sunday School. She and her husband enjoyed being members of the Little Rhody Model A Club for a number of years. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. Smith of Wakefield, and Melanie J. Colbert , both of Wakefield; a sister, Avis Dawley Randall of Port Huron, Michigan; six grandchildren, H. Brian Smith of Phoenix City Alabama, Timothy M. Smith of North Providence, Melissa N. Smith of Wakefield, Shilah M. Colbert of Wakefield, Sacha P. Colbert and Shantelle Colbert both of North Kingstown; and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the Perryville Bible Church, Perryville. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home 88 Columbia Street, Wednesday 5-7 PM.
